Combating Skin Complications: The Fertile Kitchen's Beauty Broth

3:45 PM

"beauty broth, beauty broth, beauty broth!"

Okay, so what exactly this BEAUTY BROTH you ask? It's the broth that I live by. Well, let me be a bit more clear. As a doula, writer, and other many, many hats - I tend to battle with fatigue. I spend a lot of time succumbing to my bodies need for me to slow down and nourish it. When I don't, I am hit with many, many waves of fatigue and complications such as skin breakouts and blemishes, womb congestion, hair growth stunts, and very, very groggy and tired with lots of brain fog.

When I feel my body getting this way, I know that it is time to put down the coffee and grab a tea blend or my favorite - bone broth. Now, while I am using this post to chat about the benefits bone broth has on all of your body, I want to specifically touch on what we call the beauty aspect. When my body is telling me to slow down and refresh, I am also using and looking at this time for me to completely ditch the make up and perfumes that are drenched with smells of anything other than coconut, shea butter, and vanilla.

I use this time to give my skin a reboot and prepare to rock my fresh face. And believe it or not, I owe my fresh face and natural glow to The Fertile Kitchen's Beauty Broth. Packed with herbs, probiotics, greens, and hydration to help regenerate your cells and tissues and send a really cute message to your gut to disperse out the nutrients.

There are a few that I have curated and keep in my secret vault to be released later this year in my book, however I decided to give you one! Follow this recipe, using intuition in regards to measurements that aren't listed (it's the best way to cook, it makes you more conscious, trust me), and sip on it two - three times a week for a month and let me know!

Don't think you can just sip broth like tea? It's cool, sip it one day out of those three and cook with it the other two!

tip: making you stock from scratch using bones you can get from your butches or find in the frozen food section if your grocery store would be best, but in this recipe I'm giving you the option for packaged, organic, grass-fed broth because I know how busy we are sometimes. but try it when you have the time!

Pink Himalayan Salt
Whole Black Peppercorns

(I like fish oil in my broth as well, amazing omega-3 and helps hair and skin ailments and hydration. and I just purely like the taste.)

Leave on your stove for about 1-2 hours.
Longer if you would like to marry the flavors more.
Strain out herbs, veggies, and spices.
