Womb Work: Bone Broths To Help With PMS (Part 1)

8:54 PM

It's almost that time again and you are dreading the pain and discomfort that's coming around this time of month. You try almost everything to relive the pain and bloating but nothing seems to work, until now. Two words: bone. broth.

I know, I know, it's a little weird going to your grocery store and purchasing a bag of frozen bones and believing it will cure you of the aches and irritations of PMS but trust me, the doula says it works.

I have been in the kitchen the last couple months working on a plethora of bone broth recipes to bring you along with others. The combination of my The Modern Doula Herb Blends and organic bones and vegetables will leave you feeling relieved and satisfied all at the same time.

Here's a bone broth that is guaranteed to help if incorporated into your routine.

** all bones and vegetables I am mentioning are organic, local, grass-fed, and/or cage-free.

The Modern Doula's

Organic, Grass-Fed Beef Bones
Organic Onions
Organic Carrots
Organic Ginger Root
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
Organic Celery
Whole Pepper Corns
Lemon Rind

You can place the meatier bones in the oven at around 375 degrees on a foil lined baking sheet until browned. As those begin to brown in the oven, add bonier bones to a pot with a half a cup of ACV and about 1 liter of water and let sit.

After the browning of the other bones, add to your pot of water, ACV, and bonier bones along with your vegetables, lemon rind, ginger, cloves, and pepper corns. Add another 1-2 liters of water and allow to simmer/cook for about 18-24 hours (or longer, if you please). Don't forget to remove the fat that will accumulate over the top of your broth.

Strain, freeze, and use as you please.

For best results to help with PMS and other menstrual complications, drink as a broth 2-3 times, a week before menstrual cycle is due and during cycle as well.
