Breast Work: Two Myths About Your Bra + Why You Should Go Topless

10:59 PM

Let's debunk a few myths that have been told to us for a while now when it comes to our breasts and our bras.

I come in contact with clients, friends, and family that are pretty much 50/50 when it comes to the choice on whether to wear a bra or not for different reasons. However, there are a few myths I want to point out about bras and our breasts.

1. WEARING BRAS WHEN YOU SLEEP HELPS KEEP THEM FIRM & PERKY.

This is false. There is no proof that wearing a bra while sleeping helps with perky breasts. Sleeping with a bra on will just cause you discomfort and will restrict you and your breast from breathing.

2. NOT WEARING A BRA WILL GIVE YOU SAGGING BREASTS.

This is false. It has actually been proven that not wearing a bra actually allows your breast to return/act as it's natural shape and lift. Not wearing your bra allows your breasts to react to the natural way that they sit - which I am more than positive is the perfect, perkiness that you are striving for, for your body.

Interesting right? What is just as interesting is the question I get asked within my doula life and my personal life:

"If you are very, very rarely wearing a bra, how do you keep them perky and healthy?"

Going Topless! Not relying on bras to offer me support has been the best decision I have made. Somehow, our breasts have not been a priority on our list of things we need to keep healthy and happy. Allowing time for breast massage, intentional touching, and just plain 'ol Topless Tuesdays and Thursdays (I just made that up) can drastically change how are breasts look and feel. I mean, if you are always restricting your hair by always putting it or leaving it in a ponytail it is bound to be effected, so what do you think is happening to your breasts?

Try these suggestions for about a month and notice the changes in how your breasts look and feel. I promise you will be amazed!

Happy Healing xx.
